AI-Native Photonic Design

The AI engineer for photonic design.

Philoptics drives your existing simulation stack end-to-end — from natural-language intent to validated, optimized designs — while your data never leaves your machine.

About

About Philoptics

Philoptics is an AI-native design and simulation platform for photonics. Researchers and engineers describe a device in plain language; our agent plans the workflow, runs the simulations, and returns a validated design. The agent handles setup, scripting, and debugging, so your team stays focused on the physics.

Platform

The Philoptics Platform

One agent runs the full Design–Simulate–Optimize (DSO) pipeline, from idea to fabrication-ready design.

01

Design

Describe your design intent in plain English. The agent translates it into a complete, parameterized structure definition — materials, layers, and geometry.

02

Simulate

The agent generates the full simulation script, runs it in a sandboxed session against the solver, and validates the physics — energy balance, S-parameters, and mesh convergence — before accepting results.

03

Optimize

The agent iterates on the validated design through optimization loops until performance targets are met, then returns a validated design with a report.

Works with Ansys Lumerical today; built cross-vendor by design. Zemax support is on the roadmap.

Results

Validated in the lab

Agent-designed devices hold up against expert work — in simulation and in fabricated hardware.

Fab-validated

An agent-designed double-layer coupler was fabricated and lab-measured at parity with an expert design.

4 days → 10 hours

Inverse design of a heterogeneous vertical coupler: expert workflow vs. an unattended agent run.

How It Runs

Two ways to run Philoptics

One agent kernel, two interfaces — pick the one that fits your workflow.

For industry teams — CLI agent

Runs locally and drives your existing Lumerical license. Project files and simulation data never leave your machine.

For researchers — browser workspace

A zero-setup web interface backed by a local connector, with shareable result pages for your lab.

Your data stays yours

Local execution is the default in both modes. Simulations run on your hardware, under your license, and your designs and project files stay on your machine.
